What a brilliant first post, Susannah! I can't wait to get your book and am honoured and proud that you've mentioned my small part in your quest to get published as an out and proud writer of short stories. Having (unwillingly) written four novels myself before realising I was really a short story writer, I remember feeling strongly at the time of the WriteWords debate that the importance of the poor short story was being devalued at the expense of the novel and could vividly imagine how beaten you must have been feeling.
We all need to follow our heart's desire when it comes to writing.
